Neat little downtown with lots of options. It has the modern feel of today with the classiness of the history that embodies. If you’re planning on going down there make sure you have a good idea on what you want to do for a parking spot
Great area to shop, eat, and just walk around. All varieties of cuisine from fast food to sit down family style. Lots of things to see & do, enjoy!
Avoid the indoor shopping mall! Felt unsafe as male panhandler approached shoppers for money. It's amazing how stores and restaurants outside this building gave me a good shopping experience, but not inside. Clean it up. Security is needed. Better lighting. More quality stores. It doesn't fit.
ALWAYS A GOOD TIME WHEN I VISIT. There are always street shows that are beyond amazing. The shops, mall, restaurants and skating ring are great. I normally spend hours down there between the movies, eating and catching a show either on the street or the Filmore which is walking distance. The setup is beautiful especially for the holidays. they have a unique tree in the center and beautiful lights along the sidewalks.
Downtown Silver Spring is a great place for families - especially with small children. There are tons of restaurants, a great closed off area where kids can run, a splash fountain in the summer, a huge Regal movie theater with stadium seating, a Whole Foods, and a great Farmer's market on Saturdays. Also features live music and/or performances most weekends and some weekdays and an ice skating rink in the winter. An easy place to spend hours! What a long way that area has come!
