We are in a renovated 2bd/2bath 1300sqft with washer and dryer and find the space very large, bright, and comfortable for us. We would have preferred wood/vinyl floors to carpet, but the carpet was nice and clean when we moved in and our 2 year old loves running/rolling around on it.
I never recommend this place to friends and people who are looking for relaxing place.
I'm so happy that my lease is about the end, so i can leave there.
2- once there is a rainfall, a big pond of water rises in P2. The service is so poor and it usually remains for days.
For the past 4 years in the DMV area we have lived in areas with a multiple leg commute, here you are about 2 blocks from the Silver Spring Metro. These days, my husband will be home by 5:45, where as in the past it'd be closer to 7pm.
5- we had 24 hour electricity outage in tower A. I cannot believe such thing happens in 21st century in the US. The service was so poor.
4- whenever you submit a service request, it takes days to get answer and action to fix it.
Cons: The garage doors rarely work. By Sunday evening you can smell the trash pile-up as you enter the garage. However, this goes away once the sanitation department does pick up. The garage floods if there is a hard rain. It takes maintenance forever to fix things and sometimes the work is messy (paint splatters left behind or an ugly repair). I live in the C/D building and I love this building but, I have heard about rodents on the A/B side. So far for me, no issue with visible rodents. The one thing I had to get used to is the sound of mice in the walls. That really freaked me out for the first couple months. Utilities tend to be on the high end for just 1 person.
I have lived at the Point since June 2017. I LOVE the downtown SS area!
Living at The Point has been...an experience. Two year resident and moving in July of this year. The pest control is a losing battle, honestly. The pest control team works hard, don't get me wrong, but we can actually hear the mice chewing and moving inside the walls. It's not an exaggeration, unfortunately. We have caught over a dozen mice and there are no end to them. Maintenance...again very hard working, kind people. Unfortunately the property manager and the powers that be are too cheap to give them adequate working equipment. Everything is "put a band-aid on it" and before you know it, you have broken appliances again. Three dryers in two years. We got a "renovated" apartment. That scares me when I consider what a regular apartment might look like. The walls are cheap, very. The closet doors...maintenance fixed ours yesterday and it's already broken again. The carpet...I'm sure I'll lose a security deposit so to hell with it, the carpet is very cheaply installed and is of poor quality. There is much more I could say but I'm tired of thinking about it. Concierge desk on C and D side are fabulous, truly fabulous and I appreciate their hard work although they are treated poorly by management. For the 1800 plus we pay a month to live here, it's really not worth it. Go elsewhere and save yourself the frustration. I give it one star for two rough years, the only highlight being a kind maintenance and concierge staff.
This so called The point is the worst place I have ever lived. From my personal expereince as a resident, The negatives points of the Point are:
Overall, I love where I live. I recommend The Point for couples who want to live in a convenient area, in an apartment with lots of amenities, while they save for a wedding/house.
3- the garage door is usually broken so they leave the door open days and night. I can say it is happening 1 week per month. As a result, my bike which was locked to a bike rack in p2 got stolen and nobody replied my email when i complained about it.
We moved into the point November 2017. We had a wonderful leasing agent, Randi Goldrich, who was extremely helpful and available to us during and after the leasing process.
We love the convenience of The Point. So many delicious restaurants, playgrounds, affordable stores, theaters, all in walking distance, it's perfect for us. Nothing beats the price and amount of space/amenities in the area. Call and ask for Randi, she's the best!!
I just want to know why there is so many damn Roaches running around this piece. And who the hell keep setting off the fire alarm at damn it 5am? Besides that its cool.
Pros: So much to see and do. The public school system is one of the best in the DMV and the middle school bus picks up right in front of the apartment building. The concierge(s) is/are always helpful and if he/she doesn't readily know an answer, will point you in the correct direction. Fairly clean for such a large complex. No litter to be seen in the common areas or in front of the building. The building is always quiet. There is no loitering in the common areas or outside of the entrances, which is great. Metro is 2 blocks away. My apartment is extremely spacious for 2 people. One of the best prices you will find for rent in a semi-renovated apartment home in downtown Silver Spring.
1- the trash room smells 24/7 and really annoying especially for people who live next to trash room at each floor.
6- I got sick when i took coffee from the coffee room, and never tried it. This building is not clean and the staffs are not responsible.
